Equivalence of spatial and particle entanglement growth after a quantum quench

We analyze fermions after an interaction quantum quench in one spatial dimension and study the growth of steady state entanglement entropy density under either a mode or particle bipartition. For integrable lattice models we find excellent agreement between increase entropy, for chaotic examination two further neighbor strengths suggests similar correspondence. This result highlights applicability statistical ensemble to compute expectation values local observables

We study free electrons on an infinite half-filled chain, starting in the ground state with a bond defect. We find a logarithmic increase of the entanglement entropy after the defect is removed, followed by a slow relaxation towards the value of the homogeneous chain.
